An operating partner is a key member of a private equity fund who is directly involved in the investment and operation of portfolio companies.

Their mission is to guide and assist company managers in developing and maximizing the value of their activities. As such, they can provide advice and assistance on all aspects of company management, including strategy, investment, innovation, research and development, implementation of new technologies, marketing, market expansion, sales management, operations and finance.

Operating partners are characterized by their varied skills, experience and industry knowledge. They must be able to understand and analyze company finances, determine competitive advantages, and work closely with senior management to develop and implement strategies for improvement and growth. In addition, they must be able to communicate effectively and convince stakeholders of their plans.

Finally, operating partners are often responsible for producing reports and macros to help investors better understand a company's performance and evaluate their investments.
